The Writing of 'THE HOG OF STAENINGAS'

Staeningas was the old name for Steyning, a picturesque village in West Sussex. I had an idea for creating my own legend inspired by the medieval names of manors, the ruins of Bramber Castle high on its mound and a series of conjectural maps showing how the village had ‘moved’ further and further inland as the River Adur silted and receded from the fourteenth century onwards.
